Australian Couple Restores Stunning Château in the South of France

Château de Gudanes sits nestled in a mountainous valley in the south of France. In 2013, after years of neglect, Australian couple Karina and Craig Waters bought the property and decided to “awaken this sleeping beauty” whilst taking the world along for the journey.

“When the sun is shining, I run outside to warm up! It’s like a freezer inside,” writes Karina. “At other times I keep warm by playing tennis inside in one of the larger rooms. I don’t go anywhere without a hot-water bottle, either. Everyone at the village thinks it’s hilarious, carrying a hot-water bottle everywhere!”

“In winter, when it has been snowing, I could almost believe I have entered Narnia: walking through the gates, the Château iced in white like a wedding cake.” –

Karina and Craig are letting the world in on their journey to renovate the château. You can follow their beautiful Instagram here. Or read updates on their website here. Or watch them on Youtube here.
