Last weekend, three gals jumped in the car and headed out to Homestead in Hillsborough. It made me realise how much I get stuck in my bubble at times. I’m allergic to traffic and as a result, I tend to have weekend brunch in walking distance from the flat. But this weekend we headed further afield. And I’m so glad we did. After a 15 minute drive, it felt like being somewhere else, not Auckland. There was a lot of open space and not so many people – quite different to my weekdays in the central city, surrounded by crowds and rush.Β

It was a nice little wake-up call to realise that you don’t have to travel very far for a fresh perspective – sometimes you can satisfy your wanderlust with a little trip to a house on a grassy hill.
