Breakfast is actually my least favourite meal. When I wake up in the morning I want coffee. Or tea. Just some hot beverage to hydrate me. Anything else just gets in the way.

And if I’m really grumpy, I feel like something sweet. I had to stop buying hundreds and thousands biscuits as a treat, because about 6 were eaten before I even stepped in the shower. Even now as I think of that little pink figure-ruiner I’m salivating.

A while ago on my Intagram, I posted a picture of my favourite breakfast, so I thought I would pop it up on the blog. There is nothing I love more on a cold morning than porridge – actually any morning. Sometimes I even eat it when I can’t be bothered making dinner. I fill it with fruit like berries or banana, and add any nuts or seeds I have on hand. With a drizzle of honey, I’m home.

Give it a try. You can use almond milk and water if you don’t want all that dairy in your bod. I also always cook it on the stove top instead of the microwave – I just think it tastes creamier.

1 cup of oats

300ml of your choice of milk – or mix of milk and water

Handful of frozen organic berries (don’t skimp here, the cheap ones weren’t ripe when they were frozen and they will be very tart)

A few walnuts

Sprinkle of chia seeds

Drizzle of honey (optional)

Pop oats in a pot on a medium heat. Add milk and stir until the porridge thickens to the consistency you like it (about 5 mins). Thaw berries and spoon onto the hot porridge. Sprinkle with walnuts and chia seeds. Drizzle with a little honey.

Much love XX
