My poor locks were strangled. After being blonde for many years and then colouring my hair red, they gave up on me. The ends were spindly and no matter how I tried to style it, the strands remained limp and tired. I couldn’t put it off any longer, it was time for the chop! So in typical Katie fashion (all things done to extremes), I decided to lose the length completely and go for a long bob with a fringe. I was channeling an Alexa Chung vibe. Although, Alexa doesn’t have to contend with a hot Canterbury wind which renders the fringe unnoticeable due to severe blow-back… Isn’t it funny how as women we develop an emotional attachment to our hair. We often think that a shorter, more manageable do will have us looking a little less sexy and feminine. I must admit, when I go out now I do feel different. With my messy, choppy auburn hair swinging at my shoulders I feel a little sassier than my long blonde days. But strangely, I think it aligns with my personality better. I’ve never really been the graceful, lady-like girl who breezes into the room, pouring with elegance. I’m the girl who trips on the welcome mat and yells F**K at the top of her lungs, miraculously managing to recover before hitting the floor. So a sassier haircut seems to fit the bill nicely.
Much love XX
