When Christchurch turns on the weather for you, it’s stellar. The day of this shoot was no exception. On sunny afternoons there is one place you can always find me – the Botanic Gardens. It is just so peaceful and beautiful all year around. There is nothing I love more than finding a spot and parking up with my book and a frozen yoghurt.

On another note, happy New Year!! I’m so excited for 2015. The end of 2014 has been so incredibly amazingly exciting and I can’t wait to see what lines my path ahead. I don’t usually bother with New Year resolutions, but I thought it would be fun to share a couple of my own personal goals for the year ahead.

1) Graduate – PhDs are long drawn out processes. My document has to go to three supervisors who then make suggestions before it is even submitted. Then once submitted, it can be months before you get it back from the examiners and receive the OK to graduate. Seriously – if you are thinking of doing a PhD – think really hard – it is the single most incredible thing I have ever done, but it takes commitment and plenty of hard work, with a few great moments sprinkled within. Kind of like a marriage.

2) To raise my voice – there are many things in this world that I want to write about, but often I silence myself, discounting my own opinions. 2015 is my year to find my writing voice and shout it.

3) Stop comparing – as long as I am raising my own bar constantly, that is enough. Being overly self-critical is a joy killer. That includes finding typos and not getting full-blown anxiety!

4) Eat less ready salted uppercut chips – na I’m just playing, that will never happen.

I have a great feeling about 2015. Something really good is coming, I can sense it.
