If you want to have your limelight completely shadowed, be sure to pose in front of this stunning wall mural at the Cathedral Junction in Christchurch. This piece of art is situated on Worcester Street and was painted by Rone after the 2011 earthquakes. The woman featured is named Teresa, a friend of the artist who is Australian, but of Maori descent.
Within the year that I have been away from Christchurch, the energy has started to shift. The quiet space is now filled with a buzz and excitement as the city begins to come alive in a different way than ever before. I read a quote the other day and I thought it was very beautiful…
“For a star to be born,
there is one thing that
must happen: a gaseous
nebula must collapse.
This is not your destruction.
This is your birth.”
I look forward to seeing what the next few years of rebirth have in-store for little old Christchurch. Already, this new star is beginning to sparkle.
