I stumbled across this dress in a tiny shop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn when I was visiting New York. There was something about the 50’s style and the little sail boats that took me away. I get asked a lot about the small rings I always wear side by side as you will see in the picture above. These were also purchased in Brooklyn at the Flea for $20US each. They remain my most favourite pieces of jewellery – the only jewellery you will never see me without.

Brooklyn remains the number one place I have visited and felt the most at home. I loved sitting on the window sill of the apartment and reading my book as the rain fell. I loved drinking wine on the rooftop and staring at the Manhattan skyline. I loved biking home from Williamsburg in a gin haze and wandering through the sticky night air to go for a late dinner.

I loved mastering the subway and then getting on the wrong train and ending up in Coney Island. And taking the ferry to Manhattan to walk through Central Park and try on Manolos at Bergdorf’s.

It still remains the most magical and exciting trip of my life, and I can’t wait for the next visit.

Sometimes a girl just has to wear a little dress covered in boats to help her sail back through all her lovely memories.
